Deconstruction of Waverley Radio Tower

The location of the site is in a high density residential and tourist area close to Bondi Beach.

Client: Telstra

Location: Bondi Junction

Timeframe: 3 months

The Waverley Tower is a heritage listed site and was originally built in 1945. It was raised another 30 meters in the 70s, bringing the total height to 82 metres.

RTC was engaged to recover the top 30 metres. It was a large complex project that required an enormous amount of planning due to the location, age, type, and size of the tower.

The location of the site is in a high density residential and tourist area close to Bondi Beach.

The deconstruction took place over a weekend so as to enable large plant along with major road closures in co-ordination with NSW Roads and Maritime. Critical in carrying out this work was the planning and preparation prior to the physical removal.
